The Argentinian top team Regatas Corrientes tabbed 25-year old Bulgarian international forward Aleksandar Georgiev.  Last season Georgiev played at UBC Magnofit Gussing Knights in Austrian A Bundesliga where, in 45 games he averaged 12.4ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.2apg. He helped them to win the league title and the cup. He can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket.com Austrian League All-Bosmans Team and to the All-Star Game. Georgiev also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he had 11.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg.
The previous (13-14) season he played at Lukoil Academic Sofia. In 30 games he had 8.9ppg and 3.1rpg. He contributed to his team winning the regular season and make it to the final. Georgiev also played 10 games in Eurocup where he had 5.8ppg and 1.9rpg.
In 12-13 season he played at La Bruixa d'Or (Liga Endesa) in Spanish league. In 34 games he had 4.1ppg and 2.1rpg. In 2011-12, at ChernoMore  he was the fourth best scorer of the league and he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Domestic Player of the Year, Forward of the Year and selected to 1st Team. Georgiev also played at Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas (A2) in Greek league that season.
Among other achievements he received Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Best 6th Player of the Year award back in 2009.
Georgiev was also a member of Bulgarian international program for some years. He played for Bulgarian Senior National Team between 2009 and 2014 and previously for U20 National Team between 2009 and 2010. Georgiev also represented Bulgaria at the Qualifications to European Championships 2015 last year. His stats at that event were 3 games: 1.0ppg.
