In the weekend the 22 year old American Brett Royster joined the Leicester Riders, just in time to face the London Leopards in the BBL Trophy and before the opening BBL league fixture against the Cheshire Jets.
“I think Brett is one of the best defensive big men around, I mean, he's two time two time Sun Belt defensive player of the year." Said Leicester's coach Rob Paternostro. "He's set a record in that conference, he's an athletic guy and we hope he can help us in that area.”

Royster is a former Florida Atlantic University player and was awarded the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the year award twice, having blocked an average of 2.9 shots per game during the 2009-10 season.
