Bus carrying Uni Gyor crashes, tragedy in Hungary
We regret to report that the players of the Hungarian Gyõr basketball team suffered a horrific car accident in which head coach and team manager were killed. All the sixteen remaining passengers were hospitalized, many of them with severe injuries.
The promising young taltent Natasa Kovacevic sustained serioius injuries and the doctors had to amputate her left leg below the knee.
Natasa, born in 1994, played for Partizan, Red Star and Vozdovac. She played for all young national teams, and last year won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championship.
The team was traveling to Sopron for a friendly match. The accident occurred when the driver of the bus went off the road to avoid direct collision with a car that entered the opposite lane.
Other eight members of the team suffered some serious form of injuries and another six individuals suffered light injuries.
Among them, Samantha MacKay who has two cracked vertebras, Semsei Barbara,Lakloth Anna and Milica Ivanovic who pulled Natasa Kovacevic out of the bus.
Don't worry about me. This is life', wrote Natasa in a text message to the Coach of Serbia national team.
