KK Cibona VIP Zagreb have strengthened their squad by penning a deal until the end of the season with experienced big man Darko Planinic. Darko has started his rich career in Siroki, from where he departed to Maccabi of Tel Avivi in 2012. A season after that he signed with KK Cibona VIP Zagreb for the first time and immediately won the ABA League championship trophy. After signing with KK Cibona VIP Zagreb, he moved to Buducnost VOLI of Podgorica, Baskonia, Gran Canaria, Dinamo Sassari, Zielona Gora and Cluj.
At the beginning of this season, he moved to Zadar, which he had left early in November, so therefore he will not have the right to play in the ABA League for KK Cibona VIP Zagreb by the end of the Round 13. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb and Darko Planinic have agreed on cooperation until the end of this season.
Upon his return to KK Cibona VIP Zagreb, Planinic told: 'I am happy to arrive to KK Cibona VIP Zagreb, for which I only have great memories. The ABA League trophy that we have won the last time that I had played here, is my dearest and perhaps the greatest in the new KK Cibona VIP Zagreb's history. I wish for us to win a trophy this season as well, even if it's only Croatian national championship. I have had an opportunity of cooperating with coach Ivan Veli back at our days at Siroki and I am glad to be working with him again soon. There are lots of young and talented players on the team and I hope that I would become the one that would help them to make a step forward in their careers and that we would start winning together.'
