Socar Petkimspor(BSL) inked 30-year old Croatian international 212cm center Darko Planinic for upcoming season. Planinic played most recently at Cibonain Croatian Premijer Liga. In 25 games he recorded 13.0ppg and 5.5rpg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played 12 games in ABA League where he averaged 13.8ppg, 5.2rpg and 2.3apg. The other team he played shortly was KK Zadar(Premijer Liga). In two games he had 10.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.5apg.Planinic has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012.He has been also a member of Croatian international program for some years. He has regularly played for Croatian senior team since 2012 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2010.Planinic represented Croatia at the European Championships four years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 4.2ppg, 3.0rpg.He is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Bosnia, Israel, Italy (Sassari), Montenegro (Buducnost), Poland (Enea Zastal BC Zielona Gora), Romania (Cluj Napoca) and Spain (Gran Canaria).Planinic won Montenegrin League championship title in 2015.
