Doornekamp, top performing Canadian player currently playing abroad
This week's number one among the Canadians palying abroad is former international forward Aaron Doornekamp. He led his Spanish team CB Canarias to a 3-point victory over the third-ranked Strasbourg IG (7-4) 75-72 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. Doornekamp was MVP of the game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 29 minutes on the court. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (9-2) is placed first in group D. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Doornekamp averages: 9.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.7apg, 2FGP: 44.8%, 3FGP: 36.0% and FT: 90.5%(19-21) in 11 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Dutch. Former Carleton University starter played for the Canadian senior national team two years ago.
