Draymond Green named Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year

Draymond Green's incredible senior season made Michigan State's star forward the Big Ten men's basketball player of the year.
It was more impressive than that, according to a panel of selected Big Ten media members.
Green Monday night was announced as the Big Ten Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year, becoming the second Spartan to win the award since its inception in 1982. Hockey goalie Ryan Miller won the award 11 years ago.
"It's a great honor to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jesse Owens, one of the greatest athletes of all-time," Green said in a statement. "The Big Ten is one of the most well-rounded conferences in the country, with great players and great teams across all the different sports competing for championships. To be the one male athlete selected out of that group is quite an accomplishment, but one that I didn't reach alone."
Green, a consensus First-Team All-American pegged to be a likely first-round NBA draft pick in 10 days, is the fifth men's basketball player to be named Male Athlete of the Year.
