Defending champion San Lorenzo de Almagra (Argentinian LigaA) landed 31-year old Puerto Rican international guard Guillermo Diaz. He has a double citizenship as he also holds Georgian passport. Diaz played in the summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. He has played there for the last four years. In 50 BSN games he averaged 13.6ppg, 3.5rpg and 5.0apg. Diaz helped them to win the league title. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Domestic Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and selected to 1st Team. Diaz also played 3 games in Liga Americas where he had very impressive stats: 18.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 4.7apg and 1.3spg.In 2006 Diaz was drafted by Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) in second round (52nd overall).
