Stella Artois Leuven Bears wanted to reinforce their roster, so they decided to sign the 6'8” power forward Ian Hanavan. Ian just finished his regular season in Cyprus where he won the Super Cup and helped Cytavision Apoel Nicosia in several European competitions such as Eurocup and Eurochallenge, averaging 12,7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Ian is American but got also a Belgian passport, that allowed him to play in several European countries. In 2009/10 he played in the Czech Republic for CEZ Nymburk where he netted 11.8 points per game, grabbing 5.1 rpg. In the last two years, Ian has been named Eurobasket.com All-Czech Rep. League Bosman Player of the Year. Hopefully he will help Leuven to climb some positions up in the Belgian standings.
