Import of the Year Dwayne Mitchell, joins Elitzur Ashkelon
The ex-Louisiana-Lafayett combo guard Dwayne Mitchell, has agreed on financial terms with Israeli team Elitzur Ashkelon.
This will be Mitchell's third season in the Israeli league as he played last year for Maccabi Rishon LeZion, leading the team to the Israeli Final-Four in one of its most memorable seasons, averaging 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, including finishing first in the league in steals with 2.6 a night.
In 2009, Mitchell played 15 games with Hapoel Holon and recorded impressive numbers of 16.1ppg, 4.4rpg and 3.0apg. The 2010/11 'Eurobasket' Import Player of the Year, and All-Israeli League 1st Team member, had previous European stops with French Pro A team Racing Paris and Bamberg from Germany.
The highly valuated and super athletic Mitchell will try and lead a new organization to back-to-back Final-Four appearances, after beating favorites Lee Nailon and Bnei Hasharon/Herzeliya 3-1, in last years quarter finals playoff round.
