Jeffers proves his value at the NBA D-League Showcase

The 2011 NBA D-League Showcase started yesterday and the second match of the day saw the victory of Iowa Energy over Utah Flash. The Flash battled all game long but ended up losing 95-93 in overtime. The 6'5” guard/small forward Othyus Jeffers played a key role with a game-high 27 points and a game-high 17 rebounds for the Energy.
The point of the Showcase is for NBA scouts and front-office members to be able to see all 16 NBA D-League teams and their players in one location. Last season Othyus earned a Gatorade Call-Up and 14 games with the Utah Jazz, and everybody hopes that another trip in the big league is around the corner. “I'm not worried about it,” Jeffers said yesterday after the game. “If it happens, it happens. If not, I'm here in the D-League.”
The 25-year-old Chicago native said he's playing out of his position, being more of a perimeter player but forced to play inside for the Energy.
“It's about finding the right spot,” Jeffers said. “I'm grateful to be in position with the Iowa Energy where I can showcase my talents even though here I'm still not playing my natural position, but we have talent here.”
