Joe Lawson becomes Gotha's latest signee
Joe Lawson has signed a contract with 2. Bundesliga ProA side Gotha Rockets for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
The 22-year-old Indianapolis native excelled as an offensive leader at the University of Indianapolis (NCAA Division Two), scoring 19.2 points per contest as a senior and adding 7.1 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.1 assists and steals a contest. The Greyhounds finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 25-6 record and a trip to the NCAA D2 Sweet 16. For his efforts, he was invited to the 2015 NABC D2 All-Star Game. Prior to attending UIndy, Lawson played at NAIA D2 school IU Southeast.
"He is hungry and can't wait to get his pro career started", Rockets' head coach Chris Ensminger said in a press release. A power forward/center, Lawson has the ability to score inside and outside, sinking 32.8 percent of his threes as a senior (20-of-61).
