Joseph Devoe joins Rethymno
The Canadian 6.4" Guard Devoe Joseph has decided to sign a contract with the Greek team Rethymno Cretan Kings. Devoe started the season in Israel with Maccabi Kiryat Gat.
Last season he played at Buducnost in Montenegrin Erste Liga. In 5 Eurocup games he averaged 7.6ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.2apg last season. Joseph also played 16 games in ABA League where he had 6.8ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.8apg.The most of previous (2014-15) season he spent at Cholet Basket in ProA. In 13 games he recorded 9.3ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.9apg. The other team Joseph played that season for was Turk Telekom in TBL. In 9 games he got 4.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.1apg.He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.Among other achievements Joseph played in the final of Spanish Catalonian League in 2013. He received also All-Pac-12 1st Team award back in 2012 at his college time.Joseph was also a member of Canadian international program for some years. He played for Canadian Senior National Team in 2013 and previously for U18 National Team in 2006.Joseph represented Canada at the World Championships U19 in Novi Sad (Serbia) nine years ago. His stats at that event were 8 games: 22.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.4apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 41.9%, 3FGP: 39.1%, FT: 73.3%.Joseph has played previously professionally in Ukraine (Khimik) and Spain (Joventut).He attended University of Oregon until 2012 and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
Devoe is the total package of size, speed, skill and intelligence. He has relentless attacking instincts pushing the ball forward whenever it gets into his hands. He displays a tight and controlled handle at high speeds with the ball. Superior in the transition game, weaving through defenders and finding his way to the basket. At the rim, he is explosive and exhibits exceptional strength finishing through contact as well as deft touch while maneuvering around the basket with either hand. Devoe is blazingly fast. He is excellent playing at different speeds and is capable of driving in either direction. He is a natural, brilliant and creative scorer. Fantastic in the open court, pushing the ball, attacking the basket relentlessly, while also having the instincts to be able to dish off to the open man. Great vision. Excellent shooting range inside and beyond the arc. He is an aggressive and intense on-the-ball defender. Great lateral quickness. Superior decision maker.
