Kovac and Hanavan join Apoel Nicosia
6'7 small forward Mirko Kovac and 6'8 power forward Ian Hanavan have signed a deal for the upcoming season with the Cypriot team Madisons Apoel Nicosia.
Mirko is a solid outside shooter, a good team player who can also be the best defender of his team. He grew up in Beograd, where he played for almost all his career. In 2009/2010 he joined AZS Koszalin in the Polish PLK league, averaging 8.2ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.2apg, winning the Polish Cup.
Ian is American but got also a Belgian passport, that allowed him to play in several European countries. Last season he played in the Czech Republic for CEZ Nymburk where he netted 11.8 points per game, grabbing 5.1 rpg. In the last two years, Ian has been named Eurobasket.com All-Czech Rep. League Bosman Player of the Year.
