Leonardo Pomare signs at Aomori Watts
Aomori Watts (Japanese BJ League) landed 28-year old American (has also Panamanian passport) forward Leonardo Pomare. He played most recently at Iwate Big Bulls (BJ League). In 53 games he averaged 13.5ppg, 9.4rpg, 1.6apg, 1.3spg and 1.6bpg last season. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in BJ League Eastern Division. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese BJ League Honorable Mention.
The previous (12-13) season Pomare played at Kyoto Hannaryz. In 58 BJ League games he had 11.8ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.4apg and 1.0bpg in 2012-13 season. He contributed to his team making it to the final. In 2011-12 season Pomare played at Hamamatsu Phoenix. In 49 BJ League games he had 7.1ppg and 5.4rpg. He contributed to his team winning the regular season and make it to the final. In 2010-11 season Pomare played at Quilmes (LigaA) in Argentinian league. In 30 games he had 11.4ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.1bpg. He contributed to his team winning the league title. Pomare also played at 9 de Julio (TNA) in Argentinian league that season. In 12 games he had 8.9ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.1spg. He also spent pre-season at Gaz Metan (Liga Nationala) in Romanian league that year. Pomare received All-WCC 1st Team award back in 2009 at his college time. Pomare represented Panama at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez (Puerto Rico) four years ago. He has played also professionally in Argentina (Quilmes Mar del Plata), Panama (Chepo).
He attended University of San Diego until 2009 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
