Natasa Kovacevic, Knight of the National Order of Merit of France
Former Serbian national team member Natasa Kovacevic has been honored with one of the highest orders of France, as Knight of the "Ordre national du Mà©rite", the National Order of Merit of the Republic of France, from the French President Emanuel Macron. With a letter, France recognized the highest level of sports engagement, despite all personal problems, and expressed support for young athletes who have difficulties. Natasha's engagement was a true indicator and a striking example of French-Serbian relations in the field of sports, exceptional solidarity, mutual assistance, and mutual respect.
"I was honored to be made a Knight of the National Order of Merit of the French Republic. it is a recognition of joint work for the improvement of Serbian-French ties, as well as a great incentive for the future. This is a great responsibility for me, which I will try to honor. The strength of each individual is in the group of people around him, and in this effort we must be grateful to the French Embassy in Serbia, to Mr. Jean-Pierre Siutat, Goran Radonjic, to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia, the Serbian Basketball Association, the production "Sinesport", and many others" said Natasha.
In 2014, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) appointed Kovacevic as a youth ambassador. In the same year, along with Interperformances, she announced the Natasa Kovacevic Foundation, with the purpose of helping athletes who may have faced problems such as the ones faced by Natasa, for humanitarian reasons, and to promote Female Basketball worldwide.
