Olimpico de La Banda inks Guillermo Diaz

Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda (Argentinian LigaA) signed 32-year old Puerto Rican international guard Guillermo Diaz. He is a dual citizen owning also Georgian passport. Diaz played last summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 13 games he had 6.9ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.8apg. The last season he played at San Lorenzo where in 33 LigaA games he recorded 10.5ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.0apg.In 2006 Diaz was drafted by Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) in second round (52nd overall). He attended University of Miami, Florida and it will be his twelfth season in pro basketball. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention in 2017.The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Diaz won Puerto Rican BSN championship title in 2010, 2011 and 2016.Diaz has been also a member of Puerto Rican international program for some years. He has regularly played for Puerto Rican senior team since 2009 and previously for U21 National Team back in 2004.Diaz also represented Puerto Rico at the Centrobasket in Panama City (Panama) last year. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 6 games: 8.5ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.2apg, FGP: 75.0%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 78.9%.Diaz is quite experienced player. He has played in six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). Diaz has played previously professionally also in Greece (Olimpiada), Italy (VL Pesaro, Juvecaserta and Eurotrend Biella), NBA (LA Clippers), Georgia (Mgzavrebi) and D-League (Springfield A.).He could be described: An undersized SG, with great athletic skills and good scoring ability. Has the toghness to play a good defense, year after year he improved his long distance shooting. Above all, Diaz is a fantastic leaper, capable of spectacular dunks, and is also a very good volleyball player, a star in Puerto Rican volleyball some years ago.
