Othyus Jeffers signs a 10- day contract with the Utah Jazz

After Reggie Williams' call-up from the Warriors another Interperformances player has been called up from the NBA this week. 6.5' Wingman Othyus Jeffers of the NBA Development League's Iowa Energy signs a 10- day contract with the Utah Jazz.  The 24-year-old concluded his collegiate career at Robert Morris University Illinois, an NAIA school in Chicago. That season averaged: 24.0 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game and was named The Sporting News NAIA Player of the Year and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. In the 2008 D League Draft was selected by the Iowa Energy in the third round(47 overall ). That season Jeffers led the Energy to the playoffs averaging in 47 games: 21.4ppg, 9.1rpg, 2.8apg, 2.0spg. Was named 2009 NBA D-League Rookie of the year, All D-League Honorable mention and was also selected for the 2009 NBA D-League All-Star game. Won the D-League Central Division Championship. He began the 2009-10 season with NGC Cantu of the Italian Serie A, averaged 9.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.7 steals in nine games with Cantu. In January returned to Iowa Energy where appeared in 22 games averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals. Jeffers has led the Energy to a D-League best 30-9 record.  Othyus' defensive  talent, athleticism and great tenacity are  qualities that will likely help the Jazz.
