Quantez Robertson Stays With The Fraport Skyliners
One of the most anticipated contract extensions that everyone was waiting for in Skyliner country was that of Quantez Robertson.
The question was would he continue to strap on the Fraport Skyliners
jersey? Anyone who knows the jovial and good natured American could have
almost bet their house that the ex Auburn (NCAA) guard would remain with
the club? How often has Robertson looked up at the rafters in the Fraport
arena and observed the retired Pascal Roller number staring down at him?
With a Fiba Europe Cup title under his belt and possibily more to come,
he will most surely be hanging next to Roller one day. At the season
ending party in the VIP room of the Fraport arena, the club officially
announced that Quantez Robertson would remain until 2019. The188cm guard
has played his entire professional career with the Fraport Skyliners
since coming on board in 2009 and can look back at a total of 300 games
into next season and will be going into his eighth season with the
club.Ricky Paulding just finished his ninth season with the EWE Baskets
and is an institution in Oldenburg as is Quantez Robertson in Frankfurt. The
Fraport Skyliners know exactly how important an identity figure the
American is and it was only obvious that they would try to hold him the
best way possible. "We don't only have a very good player with Quantez,
but a foundation for our future team. We carries us and we can count on
him. He has become a face of the club the way Pascal Roller once was. He
hasn't only grown as a player in the last years, but also has expanded
his offensive game and become a leader. Keeping him for three more years
isn't only a sign that we aren't going to a phase of rebuilding, but
want to follow up on our success", warned Fraport Skyloiners head coach
Gordon Herbert. Last season in the BBL, Robertson played 40 games averaging 9,7ppg, 3,5rpg and 3,1apg. In the Fiba Europe Cup, he played 19 games averaging 11.2ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.8apg, 1.4spg,
FGP: 60.6%, 3PT: 40.2%, FT: 82.9%. "The next three years will be
extraordinary. We will do all we can to get back to the playoffs and win
a new title. Also winning in the European comopetition has to be our
goal. Frankfurt and the Fraport Skyliners have become a part of my
family for my wife and my kids. Frankfurt is a great place and great
situation to raise the kids. I am happy to be able to stay", stressed
Quantez Robertson.
