Retina d'Oro 2016. Luciano Capicchioni awarded

On Tuesday, in the prestigious setting of Palazzo De Carolis in Rome, Luciano Capicchioni was awarded the “Retina d'Oro 2016”. The Retina d'Oro created by Mauro Rufini and Giampiero Caneschi, organized and promoted, since the year 2000 by Unicredit, is an award which recognizes persons and entities which have excelled, thanks to their work, in basketball, other sports and fields. Mr. Rufini motivated the award given to Mr. Capicchioni with the following comment: “Mr. Luciano Capicchioni receives the 2016 award as a symbol of excellence and as one of the most important sports agents in the world, number one in Europe. We can say that he was the first to open the doors for Europeas to go to the NBA (Georgi Glouchkov, Toni Kukoc, Arvidas Sabonis, Marc and Paul Gasol, Manuel Ginobili to name a few) In receiving the award Luciano Capicchioni said: “It is an honor for me to receive this award, it is a very important for me and I am pleased to have been considered as worthy of such a recognition. Among those who won the Retina d'Oro important personalities of basketball and sports: Giovanni Malago, Dino Meneghin, Dejan Bodiroga, Marco Bonamico, Gianni Rivera, Valerio Bianchini, Dan Peterson, Mario Archers, Walter Veltroni, Maurizio Gherardini, Sergio Scariolo, Gianluca Basile, Ettore Messina, Andrea Bargnani, Danilo Gallinari, Marco Belinelli, Manuela Di Centa, Pierluigi Marzorati, Sandro Gamba, Bogdan Tanjevic, Marco Calvani, Luigi Datome, Romeo Sacchetti, Carlo Recalcati and Carlton Myers. In 2010 the prize was awarded to Mario Draghi, Governor of the ECB, while in 2012 the Retina d'Oro Prestige Prize went to US President Barack Obama.
