Theron Smith joins Bucaneros

Bucaneros de La Guaira announced the third import signing  for the 2013 season,  after securing the contract with the former NBA star Theron Smith.
Smith has played two years in the NBA, after a successful experience in the NCAA college basketball. The American completed his four years in college basketball with the Ball State Cardinals. He's been selected as Rookie of the Year of the Mid American Conference, leaving an overall average of 16.2 points per game and 8.9 rebounds.
In 2003 Smith had got a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies with whom he played 20 games. The following season he joined Charlotte Bobcats with which he averaged 3.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
After those two years in the world's top league, Theron Smith remained in the United States, specifically in the NBA development league, then migrated to the European basketball by signing a contract with the Italian league's team Pallacanestro Cantù. After that he became a wanderer of the old continent competing in France and Romania. He also had a stint in China, where he had impressive numbers,  scoring 23.9 points  and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Finally in 2011/12 he moved to Latin America where he joined Obras Sanitarias Buenos Aires  in Argentina.
