The most exciting game of round 5 in the Romanian Liga Nationala took place in Oradea. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Gaz Metan to first ranked Oradea 77-76 on Saturday evening.
Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 21-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Oradea shot 26 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Gaz Metan only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gaz Metan 37-23 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Gaz Metan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
The former international Titus Nicoara saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. 
Oradea maintains first place with 4-1 record, which they share with CSU Sibiu and Ploiesti. Gaz Metan at the other side keeps the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Targu Mures. Oradea is looking forward to face Pitesti. Gaz Metan will play against Rovinari  and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
