Maine Red Claws signed 27-year old center James Tyler. He started the season at Bank of Taiwan in Taiwanese SBL league. In 26 games he had very impressive stats: 18.0ppg, 18.7rpg, 2.1apg and 3.1bpg this season. Last season Tyler played at SCM CSU Craiova (Liga Nationala) in Romanian league. In 12 games he recorded 10.8ppg, 8.2rpg (#4 in the league) and 2.9bpg. He also played 10 games in Balkan League where he recorded 10.7ppg, 9.5rpg and 2.4bpg.
Tyler also spent pre-season at Atenas (LUB) in Uruguayan league earlier that year. In four games he recorded 11.3ppg, 7.5rpg (#4 in the league) and 1.0bpg. He was also tried-out by Sagesse (Division A) in Lebanese league earlier that season.
The previous (2013) summer Tyler played at Trotamundos (LPB) in Venezuelan league. In 10 games he recorded 4.7ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.8bpg. The season before (2012-2013) he played at Chernomorets (NBL) in Bulgarian league. In 28 games he was second best scorer with remarkable 18.8ppg and averaged 13.5rpg and 3.1bpg. Quite impressive year as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Defensive Player of the Year, named to All-Imports Team and named to 2nd Team.
Tyler is a quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Canada (Halifax Rainmen), Iran, Serbia (Sloga), Libya (Ahly Tripoli) and ABA (Elkhart E.).
Tyler could be described: An intimidating player, who is very big and dominate inside. He worked so much on his offensive skills, and he gets lots of rebounds and block shots, and control well the glass at the defensive side.
