Tyshawn Taylor is a newcomer at Mamak DSI
Mamak Belediye Ankara D.S.I. (Turkish TBL) strengthened their roster with addition
of 27-year old American guard Tyshawn Taylor. He played recently at Maccabi Kiryat Gat in Israeli Winner League, but was released by
the team earlier this month. In 14 Winner League games he recorded very
impressive stats: 16.2ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.9apg and 1.9spg this season. The last
season Taylor played at Guaros in Venezuelan LPB where in 28 games he was the
best scorer with remarkable 16.4ppg and had 3.1rpg, 3.7apg (top 5) and 1.1spg.
Taylor helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals.
Great season indeed as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan LPB
Honorable Mention.
In 2012 he was drafted by Drafted by Portland Trail Blazers (NBA) in second
round (41st overall). Taylor attended University of Kansas and it is his fifth
season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements he won Liga Americas championship title in 2016.
Taylor received also Latinbasket.com All-Liga Americas Player of the Year award
and Latinbasket.com All-Liga Americas Guard of the Year award in 2016.
He represented USA at the World Championships U19 in New Zealand eight years
ago. Taylor's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 8 games: 10.8ppg,
1.9rpg, 4.4apg, 1.8spg, FGP: 45.7%, 3PT: 47.4%, FT: 38.5%.
Taylor is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to
play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North
America) in four different countries. Taylor has played previously
professionally in Puerto Rico (Atleticos and Indios), Russia (Dynamo Moscow),
NBA (New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets) and D-League (Springfield A. and
Maine Red Claws).
